Guide to Crafting the Perfect Wedding Invitation Wording

Here are some valuable tips and examples to help you in creating the ideal wedding invitation wording.

1. Names of the Hosts

In the traditional format, wedding invitations begin with the names of the hosts, whether it's the bride's parents, the groom's parents, or the couple themselves if they are hosting the wedding.
Example 1:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
invite you to join them in celebrating the marriage of their daughter
Emily Marie

Example 2:
Together with their families
Bride and Groom full names
Request the pleasure of your company

2. Request for Attendance

Following the names of the hosts (if including), you will want to explicitly request the pleasure of your guests' company. The tone can be formal or more casual, depending on the style of your wedding.
Example:
Jennifer Davies
and
Daniel Heaton
Invite you to join them in celebrating their marriage on

3. Reception Information

If the reception is at a different location from the ceremony, ensure that the reception details are included on the invitation.
Example:
Reception to follow
at Oldwalls, Llwynbwch Farm, Gower SA3 1HA

4. MENU CHOICES

Using your invitation to include a full menu is vital when offering your guests a choice of food. We often include this on the reverse of the gatefold invitation or as a separate insert. You can then include a separate RSVP that your guest can return with their selected meal choices. See number 6 below.

5. Extra Details

Include any specific dress codes, accommodation details, gift preferences, honeymoon wishes or other pertinent information on the invitation or on a separate insert. The gatefold invitation or the concertina trifold are perfect formats for including everything you need.

6. RSVP Details

Always provide a means for guests to RSVP, whether through a separate response card or by including RSVP details directly on the invitation. Using a separate RSVP is particularly important if you are offering your guests menu choices. Don’t forget to include dietary requirements and you could also encourage a song request for a bit of fun. Always provide an RSVP date, allowing plenty of time to collate the information and return all menu choices to your venue. The Lovelee RSVPs are designed as a postcard, therefore your postal address is pre-printed on the reverse of each RSVP, therefore no envelopes are required in order to return.

Crafting the perfect wedding invitation wording is a harmonious blend of tradition, personal style, and clarity. Remember these guidelines as you create your invitations, and keep in mind that it's ultimately about conveying your love and inviting your guests to share in your beautiful day.
